So I came across Arcade Reality for the Treo and was intrigued by the idea. Basically it uses the phone’s camera to detect motion - it overlays the bad guys onto whatever the camera sees and you move the phone to aim. What?? So I downloaded the trial and played a minute or so of the game. It has three modes - the one I understood immediately was the Arcade Reality mode. There’s some bad guys and you move the camera and shoot them - very easy and very understandable. Pretty fun, too! The demo couldn’t play infinite shooter, and the Asteroids  Mode was quite confusing - imagine trying to control a ship in 3d space from a 3rd person point of view. It looked pretty tough.

It’s kind of a wii like experience where you really have to move the phone. The graphics were a little questionable and the frame rate was a little slow, but those aren’t show stoppers. Like the Wii, I’m not sure if it’s actually fun or a gimmick that will lose it’s luster in a bit, but I was impressed by the ingenuity of the developers. My real hesitation is that mostly I play games while I’m out waiting or on the train or something and that’s not the place to be waving your phone all around you - and at least the level I played I was going all over the place with the phone.

At any rate - if you’ve got a treo I recommend giving the demo a download - it’s something to see and you can impress all your treo-less friends with it.
