Breakfast Links: All Beef Edition
So first we learn that Fire.app is to be no more. That sucks, I’ve been using it for awhile now and liked it. I’ve been using Adium, too, a little and will move over but I’ve got a beef with them because of that damn quack sound that I was too lazy to change until recently.
Then we have another example of science self-editing itself for the benefit of “Intelligent” Design. A study shows that the word evolution is avoided in discussions about the increase of antimicrobial resistance in humans. Despite this being one of the best documented examples of evolution words like “emerge”, “arise” and “spread” are used instead of “evolve”. This sucks.
Lastly we have this new HP commercial featuring Abigail Breslin. This is a fine, if largely uninteresting to me, commercial all the way up until the young actress says “I don’t think I’d remember anything… at all… if I didn’t have pictures.” An indictment of memory and imagination, trebly galling coming from a 5 year old.
