UPDATE: ok, a bonus link, courtesy boingboing. It seems that Boston really believes it will be the next target of a terrorist attack, either that or the Boston PD is really bored and has some extra explosives around. Me and Howard used to do that when we had an extra M80, too. But back in the day, we had real M80’s, not these new ones that “look just like the original M80″. Anyhow, I hope the Boston PD sues the Transportation Department for their terrorist hoax.
Bruce Schneier is funny, he says:
Boston PD: Putting the “error” in “terror.”
If I were a bad guy, I’d start putting up “hoax” devices all over Boston and let the PD do the dirty work of disrupting everyone’s lives for me. Eventually, it’ll turn into a boy who cried wolf scenario.
Also, I can’t seem to find anywhere that reports on the fact that the thing they blew up was, in fact a traffic counter. It seems to be a meme spreading on the tubes, but I can’t find any actual reporting - if someone else has the 411, please post it!
First YouVert tells us of a swiss guy who calls up the local newspaper to tell them he’s Gucci and he wants to place a full page ad, sends them an image of him with a bottle of perfume and the word Gucci overlayed and please send Gucci the $50,000 bill. Yeah, it’s that easy over there.
Next, I don’t know how you find this stuff, but Scott does. He posts a link to an online autobiography of the woman who created the Star Wars logo. It’s a strange read, pretty interesting actually, but as Scott notes, the wierdest part is the quote:
I designed the logo for the film, “Star Wars” with a minimalist directive from George Lucas: that he wanted “something very fascist” as to the film’s logo.
And let’s end with a little bit of fantasy. I don’t know how long this has been about, but there’s now a creationwiki - a wiki for creationists only. Here you can find out all you need to know about creationism. Personally, I prefer this wiki for this sort of thing.

Well Boston always seemed to have an inferiority complex when it comes to major cities on the East Coast. Probably due to their proximity to NYC.
Combined with their idiocy during the whole Mooninite fiasco it would appear that the Boston PD is actually a group of teenage boys with no parental oversight and access to awesome things that go boom.
Kinda reminds me of this episode of the Sarah Silverman Show:
