Lasik and Self Preservation
So a friend of mine recently let me know he’d be getting Lasik soon. Which of course gets me thinking about it again. I’ve had glasses since the 3rd grade and my eyes are at around -9.5. So, I’ve got bad eyesight - although for the past several years they haven’t deteriorated almost at all, which is both surprising and comforting. I suspect, though, at some point in the moderate future I’ll end up getting the surgery.
But the other thing about me is that in addition to bad eyesight, I have great fear. Elective surgery is something I will always elect not to have. I’ve been avoiding the dentist for years now because they’ll probably want to pull my wisdom teeth. Right, I’m that kinda guy. But it’s good to know that others I know will be getting the surgery and when it goes off great and they have perfect eyesight that will hopefully make it easier for me if I ever really decide to do it.
Easier that is, unless they post stuff like this. That is a much braver woman than I am! I mean I can take certain things, but if you’re going to go and say:
At this point they make the flap. It sounds very strange when the flap is made, a short buzzing noise.
I don’t know what that means and I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know. In these instances if only general anesthesia could be used! Consciousness is definitely not my friend at such times.

Yeah Erin’s the same way when it comes to hospitals and doctors.
But you should do it if they say it’ll work for you. If you wind up going to the same place Andy and I went to you can get $400 off. =)
