Breakfast Links: Throwback Edition - Macbook Mini, Crazy Astronaut and Dollar Coins
Today we have a followup on three things we’ve talked about before. Good times.
So, we’ll start with more rumors on the Macbook Mini (we talked about that here). This morning we come across this short piece reinforcing our hopes of this long fabled device. It suggests that a solid state notebook (i.e. flash technology instead of hard drives) would be coming out in the second half of the year. I totally want one of these and I hope it’s true! This will let the notebook be slimmer, cooler and more energy efficient - all things I’m ok with.
Next we’ll follow up on this post where I link to an article about a crazy kidnapping astronaut love triangle. Well not surprisingly Lisa Nowak has been fired by NASA. And I say it’s not surprising only from the conventional view that she was a person who kidnapped someone and thus lost her job. But let us not forget… she was an ASTRONAUT. They fired an ASTRONAUT. Whaaaa?
And finally, we talked a litle about the introduction of a whole new series of dollar coins. Well it turns out these coins are the godless work of the devil. That, or there was a printing snafu and the “in god we trust” - that was already marginalized (and en-cool-en-ized, if you ask me) by it’s move to the edges of the coin - was not actually printed at all. So according to the Mint about 50,000 of these bad boys don’t have that printing - the sale of which coins were going for $200 on ebay although a quick ebay search shows prices around $100. I kinda want one of these.. you know?
