We’ll start with another case of Google giving up information, this time it’s Orkut giving Mumbai police information about its users who post “objectionable material” on the site. Not saying if it’s right or wrong, I’m sure any company would have done the same, I’m just suggesting that people should stop being surprised by Google’s willingness to remove content/give information to governments and companies who ask. I also think this quote is particularly precious, “That the measure is fool-proof is evident from the fact that an encrypted code has also been agreed upon for such communication to prevent people from posing as the Mumbai Police and laying their hands on such information from Orkut.” Ah, yes, an encrypted code is surely evidence of a fool proof system. Sometimes reporters are just so cute!

Living here in NYC, I may be afraid of rising tides wiping out my island but at least I’m not afraid of actual earthquakes. Fortunately, for those of you living in San Francisco where this is your daily fear, you can now twitter the latest earthquake news! Good times.

Lastly in a note relevant to yesterday’s links about art and wierd travel check out this post with wierd statues from around the world. Like yesterday’s travel blog, some of the statues are much less wierd than others.. but there’s a couple good ones there, starting with the first two. I also really like the arch one, not too far down the list, although, it’s more cool than wierd.
