Breakfast Links: Exhuming Houdini, Clowns and BK
They’re going to exhume Houdini’s body to try and prove he was murdered by a cabal of psychics. You can’t make that up. Apparently Kulash and Sloman published a book “The Secret Life of Harry Houdini: The Making of America’s First Superhero,” that no one bought, because it was completely speculative. Whoops, sorry, I guess you can make it up. So to beef up sales they hired a PR firm who’s idea this exhumation was. Wow.
Check out this video from godtube (care of youvert). It’s got clowns in a nursing home, I couldn’t even bear to watch the whole thing. There’s a scene with an old guy surrounded by two clowns and the voice over says “If they’re in need of touch, you touch them.”. I’m so creeped out - and not creeped out haha, like in Santa Claus is Coming to Town when Santa sings “if you sit on my lap today, A kiss a toy is the price you’ll pay, When you tell me what you wish for — In a whisper, be prepared to pay..”
And lastly, in another bit o’ good news for the animals (the first bit was Wolfgang Puck getting down with the Humane Society), Burger King has announced their plan to buy eggs and pork from suppliers that are cage-free. Although it’s a small start, they’re buying 10% of pork and 2% of eggs from these suppliers - they’re set to double by the end of the year and hopefully continue on beyond that. With the volume of business that BK provides, I imagine this will have at least a reasonable impact on the market place.
