Breakfast Links: Talking CCTV, DST & Zoo Babies
Here’s a little insanity from the UK, they’re equipping their CCTV cameras (the ones they’ve put all around their cities to snoop on their citizens) with loudspeakers so that someone watching those TV’s can yell at said citizens for “misbehaving”. Seriously. Seriously? The best part is this, apparently they read some memo that people can’t complain if children are involved, so… “Competitions would also be held at schools in many of the areas for children to become the voice of the cameras.” Wow! So now you’ll be told to stop littering, stop picking your nose, stop making out with your girlfriend by a 9 year old. Kick ass. (Can you imagine being that 9 year old? With the most hated voice in the country?? Shudder…)
So that brilliant plan to change the Daylight Savings Time so that we’d all save energy? Yeah, we didn’t save any energy. It turns out that even though it was brighter at night so we could turn on all our stuff later, strangely it was darker in the morning so we had to turn on all our stuff earlier! They couldn’t have made, you know, a study before deciding to do this? Did some politician wake up one day with this great idea and they just went with it?
