I learned many things this morning. Important things. All related to Porky’s. For instance, who knew that until very recently Porky’s was canada’s highest-grossing film? Sadly, its director Bob Clark died in a car crash yesterday. That’s super sad. He was also the director of A Christmas Story, perhaps the finest christmas movie to ever grace our screens. I can still remember Steve Winick’s dad taking us underaged kids to see Porky’s, our first R movie. Sad.

Also came across this cool article on Wired. Talks about how if you can map extra senses onto our existing 5 (well they say 5.5) senses our brain can totally handle it, although, really it seems like all the examples are just using touch. The examples they give are pretty astounding and for those of you who know me, you know I could use that feelSpace belt. That’d be cool to have an always on sense of magnetic north.

Lastly the new Brownstone issue is out, an NYU magazine (via Gothamist). This issue is the all asian issue. Their homepage is kind of sucky, since they put their lead articles on the image w/ no text links - if I hadn’t already been looking for the “Yellow Fever” article that the Gothamist referred to, I might not have found it onilne. But anyway, it’s kind of interesting, Yellow Fever is definitely an epidemic although I was expecting a *lot* more from an NYU article (there being a few asians at that school and I would expect not a little o-fetish happening). I mean, she goes to facebook and craigslist, for stories that are not overly convincing - I was hoping to get a lot more anecdotal evidence or something from NYU. Ah well.
