Breakfast Links: Big Wheel, Mail Art & Batman
Apparently there’s a yearly Bring Your Own Big Wheel race down Lombard Street in SF. Something like a thousand people go and slalom down the crookedest street there is, and it’s damn steep, too! Check out some pics and some videos to get a sense of the mayhem. It’s a good thing there’s so many, if it was less crowded I know from personal experience how fast those things can get and the spinning pedals can really get moving!
Then Darren Di Lieto is requesting submission of art on envelopes. The MAILmeART project will take all the submissions over the course of 18-24 months and then hold an art show of the submissions - if your piece sells you get 70% of the price. But, check out some of the submissions, they’re really cool and incorporating the address into the art is the bomb diggity. I wish I was cool like that. If you want you can send me your art on an envelope, too. No show or money, though. But if it’s good enough I might use one of my rare earth magnets and attach it to my fridge, that’s like a gallery.
Lastly you really have to check out these words of wisdom from Batman to Robin from the Adam West show. Seriously, check out these gems:
Bruce: “Don’t dip your oar in this sordid sea, Dick. You might be besmirched.”
Batman to Robin: “When you get a little older, you’ll see how easy it is to become lured by the female of the species.”
Robin, looking at Batgirl: “You know something, Batman?”
Batman: “What’s that, Robin?”
Robin: “She looks very pretty when she’s asleep.”
Batman: “I thought you might eventually notice that. That single statement indicates to me the first oncoming thrust of manhood, old chum.”
Dick: “Bruce, let me ride Waynebow. I’m light enough.”
Bruce: “No, Dick, I couldn’t allow my own ward to ride my own thoroughbred. People might think it was funny.”
Ok, I have to stop. Seriously, it’s awesome - there’s even one’s that aren’t sex related! Don’t get besmirched and watch out for that thrust of manhood! It’ll getcha!
