Breakfast Links: Land Warriors, Secret Doors & Taxes
The Army has been working on this new “Land Warrior System” for it’s troops. Super high tech, flip down screens with views of all the other friendlies around, video game style, if you know what I mean. Problem is, the troops don’t like it. Even lightened up from it’s original weight, it weighs in at 16 pounds - it looks like these guys all told will be toting around 80 pounds worth of goods. Yeesh! Ah well, my favourite part is when the guy says that the new enhanced scope on the rifle has to focus like a digital camera. I know how well that works out….
And this bookcase door is totally something that I would build my entire house around. You know, if I was building a house. I would totally have this door locking off some secret room or passage and I’d definitely mastermind my plots from said secret room. Maybe the room would even have a window where I could look out of it creepily and the neighborhood would wonder where that room was and what those strange sounds coming from the house were each thursday night… Of course, it’d need some secret lock, so I’d just need to pull a book or something and it’d open. But I’m sure that’s no problem.
And in honor of our just past tax season check out the 2008 budget graph. It’s a poster that shows you were all your hard spent tax dollars are going in depressing detail. Definitely worth checking out.
