You know after that whole Digg/HD-DVD key craziness, was it only yesterday? Feels like an eternity. Must be because blog time is so much faster than regular time. Anyway, the ruckus was over the publishing of the string of text that could be used to decrypt any HD-DVD. Something that obviously the HD-DVD people didn’t want bandied about. Now you can get the t-shirt with that toxic text on it, proudly showing it off to everyone. Geeks will not be silenced!
This reminds me of waaay back in the day when the government labeled encryption to be an unexportable munition. There was a hue and a cry and geeks everywhere trembled. Naturally, this spawned a t-shirt that contained source code which could perform the encryption and thus should have been considered a muntion and stopped. Wearing this shirt on an international flight, I think, would technically make you an arms dealer. Sweet!
So that’s two. Must be a trend! :) You can see that they seem to have gotten over the need to explain the whole story right there on the t-shirt. But still, what is that pose?
