So, I got my beta invite yesterday (from franticindustries) and I had all kinds of trouble getting it to run, but I finally did. Seems pretty cool, not enough programming yet. It’s a bit strange, I don’t love the interface as it doesn’t really help you out at all. For instance, you start out with “My Channels” but you gotta hunt around for the link to all the channels. Shrug, but it is definitely promising. It’s pretty fast, although it got a bit choppy when it switched to a high quality looking SpiderMan 3 commercial.

Ugh, I guess I can’t send out any invites - just tried and it said I used up all of my invites even though I haven’t sent any. Hmm.. Sorry! Oh well, I think I have unlimited invites, so if you want one just leave a comment and put your email in the email part (it doesn’t show up anywhere on the site, just in my admin window). I’ll send ‘em out.

The player seems pretty unstable. You can’t fast forward through the whatever you’re watching and it doesn’t remember when you’ve left off. That’s kinda lame, but the experience is a lot like watching tv, except you can define the start point for anything in the catalog. I’d like to hope that the future of internet video isn’t Joost, or Joost takes a turn to caring more about the client and less about the content provider. Who knows if that time will ever come.
