Wow, my boys are at it again. They’ve just announced that they’re going to launch an online music store selling only DRM free mp3’s (via techcrunch). I’m glad to see them getting in on that - DRM’less mp3’s don’t really need much integration with anything since they’re easily imported into whatever system you have, so it’s conceivable that this could be successful avenue for them. What’s more interesting, and I don’t know how much more, but they are launching not just with EMI but with 12,000 other labels - I’m sure that’s a number that sounds more impressive than it actually is, but nevertheless I’m super happy to see that there’s more out there than just EMI. Keep your eyes peeled for it hitting the site later this year.
