Breakfast Links: Blind Gunman Denied, Technolust & Anime Hotel
A blind North Dakota man is pissed that Minnesota won’t give him a permit to carry a gun in public (CCW). He’s blind. I can’t make this up. I got nothing against blind people, but I’m pretty sure they shouldn’t be carrying any guns around. He “promises” that it is only to be used at point blank. Even if that were true, it isn’t, you know, easy to pull a gun and shoot it while someone’s beating the crap out of you. The only shooting he’s done in the past was with someone’s help, which is the opposite of someone beating the crap out of you. Here’s the sad part, he already has permits from North Dakota and Utah. If he ever has to actually use the gun, at best it ends up as a strong entrant to the Darwin Awards, at worst it ends up much worse than that.
You know I’ve been wanting I’ve been waiting patiently for a sweet solid state laptop, no? Well, Sony just busted one out that looks really good. Their VAIO Type T 10th Anniversary laptop is a shiny black bit o’ technofetish. It’s got Core 2 Duo and 32 GB of solid state goodness. It’s only in Japan cause those jerks keep all the good stuff for themselves. Come on Apple, what are you waiting for??
And check out this Best Western of all things. It used to be the Best Western Miyako Inn in Japantown San Francisco, but it’s recently transformed into the Best Western Hotel Tomo and has been refurbished into a bunch of J-pop inspired goodness! Each room now sports it’s own anime-style wall paintings and, from the pictures, generalized cool furnishings. I like that the hotel also has 2 gaming suites coming at you with a PS3 and a Wii - bean bags, sofa bed, 6-food LCD projector and more - I wonder if it comes with free delivered pizza, too. That’d be the icing on the cake!
