Well, you knew it was coming and now it’s here. The FTC announced their investigation into the Google/DoubleClick acquisition. I don’t know if the spate of acquisitions after this supports or works against the claims, but I’m curious to see how this works out. Honestly, I don’t see it affecting Google much if it isn’t allowed to purchase the company. The funny thing is, I wonder what would happen to DoubleClick if the purchase is blocked. It seems like all the potential buyers already bought someone - would it then remain independent? Ah, the irony.

Would everyone who bought a company then feel bad because Google now didn’t buy the company and maybe it stopped seeming like a good idea to have bought an advertising conglomerate for $6bil? Who knows, although in the end I suspect that G will be allowed to go through with it.
