Richard Serra - Torqued Ellipse IV
Monday’s art.

So this kid in Birmingham climbed their crazy Selfridges building and posted the video. Now he feels like he’s going to get into some trouble so he’s apologizing and taking down the video (the link I posted, was someone re-uploading it). The paper was comparing him to Alain Roberts, but really it isn’t even a comparison. Even so, it’s pretty cool - it’s great when he climbs up the bridge’s suspension wires. And that building’s completely crazy looking. It deserved to be climbed.

So Babylon 5’s The Lost Tales, a direct to DVD series finally has its first trailer. That flash site is completely horrendous, click on “main menu” and then “The Lost Tales Movie”. I dug B5 although I never watched it religiously. At the time, I think it was the best of the SF tv shows on - having a more long running story arc and characters who weren’t good or evil. The trailer though, doesn’t look overly compelling. Does it?

Finally, here’s the question, which came first the Wiimbledon name or the idea for the event itself? That’s what I wonder, when an event with such a perfect name comes up, I always think someone first said, “Wiimbledon” and then the event came to give it purpose. At any rate, the first Wiimbledon (Wii tennis tournament) has come and gone and a fellow dressed as Luigi crushed 127 other contestants to walk away with a Wii as prize. He obviously deserved to win, having come as Luigi, so it’s good that the universe worked things out that way. There’s also pictures of the event. Word to your moms.
