iPhones everywhere
Well, the day has come and gone and now everyone who wants an iPhone can have one. Some AT&T’s are sold out, but Apple stores everywhere still have them in stock. Jobs wasn’t kidding when he said he wasn’t worried about inventory - the tip off was the 2 per person rule. Those guys who bought them trying to flip them.. heh, good luck with that.
The first public reviews are rolling out. This guy digs it. He mentions that he can’t sync his notes which is pretty wierd. He also says that his Bose headphones don’t work with it - which is odd as well given the 3.5mm jack it has you still need an adapter? That’s lame. But he’s loving the iPhone in general. This other guy loves it, too. He mentions that it’s actually kind of difficult getting pictures off the iPhone and a hiccup with the signup process.
Words cannot describe how incredibly wonderful this thing feels to touch and hold.
Have I mentioned yet that this seems to be a device designed and engineered by angels? Because it is.
In addition to this poetry they have a very long bullet point list of things they noted about it, worth checking out.
Gruber’s into it. This is probably the most informative review, bringing up points about typing, notes, (lack of) todo’s, (lack of) copy & paste, and a chock full of other bullet points. Really worth checking out.
TechCrunch is reporting on the rumor that monday will see the launch of a 3G phone for Europe. I don’t buy it - Steve’s been saying that there’s no 3G because of battery life problems, they didn’t solve that in 3 days. Also the public backlash if Europe gets 3G phones and we didn’t would be tremendous. I’d say this is about as bogus a rumor as they come.
Hmm… this is reporting that the 3G Europe launch is an announcement with a device by the end of the year. This still seems dubious if it’s Europe only. Hmm..
Might try and head down to an Apple store and see about playing around with one. Although, it’s probably still a bit of madness there. Hmm…
Anyone get one? Getting one? Getting me one?
UPDATE: Check out PCWorld’s scratch/drop testing video. Scratching with keys and dropping from head height on to cement. Wow. iPhone survived like a champ. I had to wait through a microsoft ad to watch the video, which was vaguely amusing.
