Breakfast Links: Green Weapons, Dracula’s Castle & Pray for Rain
No it isn’t some new tactic by Green Peace, arms manufacturer British Aerospace (BAE) has decided to go green with things like reduced-lead bullets and recyclable explosives. I’m sure that will be great consolation to all the people shot and blown up by said green weapons. Those fronts seem a little, well, contrived - I mean, they give this quote:
BAE stress that the point of these developments is to make sure that they minimise the wider impact of the weapon’s use.
LOL, but they’re also working on more efficient jet fuel which seems like a good idea and something that could potentially trickle out into the consumer world - flying being one of the worst polluters there are.
For anyone with a spare $135 million, you might want to pick up Dracula’s Castle all the way in Transylvania. It’s actually called Bran Castle, it’s on a cliff and Vlad the Impaler seems to only have spent one night in it in the 1400’s, but still, it’s the biggest tourist attraction in Brasov!
Lastly, and you won’t even be ablt to believe this one… Lastly, Alabama is apparently having a drought which is big problem for the farms there. The governor, Bob Riley, has decided that the best way to tackle this problem is to call for a week of prayer for rain. It’s the perfect blend of lack of church/state separation and insanity. I love the even tone of the article with it’s citing of a couple studies of the power of prayer on various things. Totally awesome. I think Ed Colligan at Palm should call for a week of prayer that 90% of iPhones are returned and everyone buys Treo’s instead.
And that’s it, Happy 4th of July. Go blow some stuff up.
