Transformer Nerds. Sigh.
Ok, first a little background. First this guy, a fire fighter the the Ohio National Guard legally changed his name to Optimus Prime. Yes, Optimus is his first name and Prime is his second. This actually happened a long time ago in 2003, at least it’s respectable in that it was just something this dude did - no movie hype to spur him on. He even had a blog on some nbc affiliate site for awhile, he had his moment of fame then and is getting a few more moments what with the movie and all.
Fast forward to a few days ago when Jason Michaell Burrows legally changes his name to Jason Megatron Burrows. I mean the timing seems to indicate that he has fallen in for the movie hype. Come on!
Now here’s the kicker. It seems that Optimus has taken exception to Jason’s wuss out on the name. I mean, I have to go with Optimus on this one - if you’re nerdy enough to change your name, you have to make it your first name - who cares about your middle name? I mean, I guess since Megatron is just one name, the last name could stay the same… wait, can you just have one name? Like Cher? Is that her full real name *?
Here’s the quote:
The mighty OPTIMUS PRIME is “OFFICIALLY” calling you out. If you are going to TAKE credit for bearing the name of my one true nemesis, then man up and take MEGATRON as your first and ONLY name. Otherwise, stop being a poser and come up with your OWN idea!
Seriously, dude. Cowboy up or get out.
Ah well, that’s my contribution to their moments of fame. I will soon be changing my name to… Lion O! Actually, perhaps I’ll beat the movie and change my name to Racer X or dare I? Chim Chim!
* Cause I needed to know, Cher actually has three names: Cheryl Sarkisian LaPierre.

I always think it is funny when people change their names to something that is so obviously nerdy. I mean come on, are you really that creative when you take a name that was created for a comic/cartoon? Oh well, I guess they have their fun with it. I would just feel funny referring to somebody as Optimus, or Megatron.

[...] It wasn’t enough that one person legally changed their name to Megatron. It is almost too much to bear knowing that there are two Megatrons in the world. Although I admit [...]
