Seven New Wonders of the World

Well, I talked about the voting a bit ago and now the results are in. As far as I know, some random group of people chose themselves to be the “NewOpenWorld Foundation” (note the lack of spacing to let you know they’re a hip, with-it foundation) and ran this vote worldwide. Well, worldwide for the people that have access to the web, sms or telephony.
At any rate, the voting ran and now the answers are here. There was even a big event with celebrities and everything, Chaka Khan! They didn’t release the number of votes each place got, which makes sense, but I would like to know the total number of votes they received. Well, here they are in alpha order:
· Chichén Itzá, Mexico
· Christ Redeemer, Brazil
· The Great Wall, China
· Machu Picchu, Peru
· Petra, Jordan
· The Roman Colloseum, Italy
· The Taj Mahal, India
· Pyramids of Giza, Egypt for whatever reason is an “Honorary Member”, so it’s sort of the 8th New Seven Wonder, I guess.
Personally, I think that the Redeemer’s a little too new. I mean, if we’re looking at new stuff, I think the Empire State Building or the Guggenheim Bilbao are pretty impressive. I think things should have had to be a good bit older than 75 years.
I’ve seen some of ‘em so far, but haven’t been to Egypt, Brazil, Jordan or India yet. Gotta fire up that passport and get movin!

Yeah I don’t think the Redeemer should have made it. The Acropolis or Angkor would have been the better choice. It always amazes me that they could create such enormous structures in those ancient times.

Right? Or Stonehenge! That’d have been my pick, probably not the most impressive, I guess, but god I loved that thing when I was younger.

seems a bit odd to me that they would choose Chichén Itzá over Giza. The Giza structures and location seem more impressive to me. Obviously i compare those two specifically as they both feature pyramids (ziggurats?) as their central and most impressive features.
I hope one day there will be an Apple Storeâ„¢ that makes the list.

If we’re all being perfectly honest, I think that perhaps they overlooked Howard as one of the new wonders. Oh wait, perhaps they’re waiting to add you to the new contest they’re running the 7 Natural Wonders of the world.

Don’t worry, I’ve already nominated you.

I had an issue with bunch of crumbly old ruins being called the “new” seven wonders of the world, so I came up with my own list at my blog.
I forgot one–the In N’ Out Burger 100 X 100. Truly one of mankind’s most incredible creations.
