The truth on used Japanese schoolgirl panties
Well, we blogged about uncovering the truth of the japanese panty vending machines now (again thanks to ectoplasmosis) we know the source of these hallowed panties. (and is a fantastic group, to boot).
This just makes me love Stereo Total even more. I first heard them when I went to Coachella some years back, only in the past year or so did I follow up on that and pick up a couple of their albums. They’re quite fantastic - I was trying to put this song or L’Amour a Trois in my wedding, but they didn’t quite make it in. Heh.

My stepson is in the Navy, stationed in Japan, and one of the things he absolutely marveled at when he first arrived there was that he could buy almost anything from a vending machine. He would buy HUGE containers of booze from vending machines–contributing to many of his most interesting tales of military shenanigans. He never mentioned used panty machines, however.

My favorite nuance in the video is that the band wears rubber gloves when handling the freshly worn underwear.
When i was in Tokyo i asked a native friend of mine what was to stop some 15 year old kid from buying booze from a vending machine.
“cuase that would be illegal!” was his answer. Something tells me that wouldn’t cut it here.
