iPhone update soon?
Well.. AppleInsider’s reporting that Apple may be releasing a software update soon!
Two interesting bits:
“Management expressed excitement at plans to increase iPhone value over time via new software features, citing ‘the sky is the limit’ for iPhone software,” analyst Mike Abramsky told clients in a research note Tuesday. “An iPhone update patch is expected shortly.”
That really is the beauty of the iPhone - since it is so software powered, over time your iPhone can get better - increasing it’s usable lifetime. And if it’s like upgrading the iPod, it’ll happen quickly and painlessly - contrast that to the fear festival of trying to upgrade the firmware on your treo…
“Despite 3G’s greater prevalence in Europe, 3G iPhones may not arrive until Spring 2008, given battery life and form factor challenges,” he told clients
Which makes sense to me, I never bought those rumors that Apple was going to release 3G this winter. I still don’t buy them.

Well, there was an update tonight but only security fixes. No new functionality unfortunately.
