Breakfast Links: Rollerman, Cramer & Kobayashi
Today’s links feature three videos! You know you love videos.
This first one is some crazy french guy in some crazy outfit that’s covered with wheels. Jean-Yves Blondeau, strangely doesn’t have a wikipedia entry but does have a suit with 28 wheels on it! Check out this Gizmodo bit with two videos - the first has him lugein’ down a hill racing a motorcycle and the second has him showing off his mad skillz in Paris. The second one’s a little more interesting since you see him work out all 28 wheels. If you can’t get enough, check out his incredibly annoying BuggyRolling website, which inexplicably makes you drag and drop “disks” onto a “disk reader” instead of just clicking links. Sigh. Just because you can do something in flash, doesn’t mean you should.
Now you know, on this blog that we love money. You know who else loves money? Cramer. We had the misfortune to work for him at thestreet.com many, many moons ago and he’s, shall we say, temperamental. He also loves money, it turns out he also doesn’t like losing money. Check out this video where he shows just how much he doesn’t like losing money by also losing his temper and venting how dumb he thinks Bernanke is. You gotta give props to the woman anchoring the show for doggedly trying to keep things rational in the face of madness.
And lastly it was the matchup you were all waiting for… Kobayashi v. a bear. That’s right the worlds greatest competitive eater (given his track record if not the 2007 Nathans challenge) squares off in an eating contest against a half ton bear, The Alaskan Cruncher. As a televised sporting event there’s insightful commentary:
When the bear came out I saw a flash of fear for a second in Kobayashi’s eyes, because he’s never faced a competition like this
See how casual the bear is?
Obviously the bear has a different eating technique
[the bear] looks away and he takes a break because he doesn’t know it’s a competition

I remember watching some parts of the show that the Kobayashi clip came from on tv when it first aired. Some lame Fox one-shot deal, Man vs. Beast or something ridiculous like that. Only other thing I vaguely remember from it was they also pitted I believe an Olympic sprinter against a horse.

Yeah, I think at the end of that video they show some of the other bits - there was a sprinter racing something. There was a giraffe, too, although I can’t remember if perhaps he was racing the giraffe. :)
