Breakfast Links: Wes Anderson, Neil Gaiman & Michel Gondry
Ok, it’s the big movie edition (and not just a blockbuster list :)! If you don’t want to see any of these movies, you’re a heartless bastard.
First we have Wes Anderson’s new movie, The Darjeeling Limited. Apple has the trailer up. Even more awesomely Aquarium Drunkard has some MP3’s up with music from Wes’ movies (vie mefi). Personally I think he peaked and Rushmore and have only liked his subsequent movies OK. There’s something too… I don’t know, polished or Hollywoody or something about the Tenenbaums and the Life Aquatic. But who knows, I’ll still be seeing Darjeeling Limited! Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman!
Next, two up from Neil Gaiman. He’s written the new Beowulf (directed by Robert Zemeckis). Check out the trailer (via scifichick). Also his book Stardust is being made into film. Apple has those trailers, too. Strangely, neither trailer makes me want to see these movies, because generally speaking I’m a sucker for trailers. But as we all know, trailers lie, so you know I’ll be seeing both. Stardust opens today! Go out and support the team, the book was fantastic and I hope the movie follows up.
And last (though far from least) we have Michel Gondry’s latest opus, Be Kind Rewind (via giantrobot). This time Yahoo’s got the trailer. Jack Black and Mos Def? Great! This movie looks great, reminds me (just a little) of those old play versions of movies that Wes did in Rushmore. I love Michel, although he needs to show me something good to get that awful Paul McCartney song out of my mind.
