The Dark Crystal 25th AnniversaryRemember The Dark Crystal? Jim Henson’s opus? Well it’s 2007 and that means it’s the 25th anniversary and that means… Special Edition DVD! Now, they’ve tried to recapture some of the magic with MirrorMask (which I quite dug, but can understand why one might not have loved it), but it never caught on the way The Dark Crystal did. Lots of special goodies on the 2 disk set. I’m thinking about it! Speaking of special edition DVD’s, the limited edition Helvetica DVD is also on sale (along with the regular retail version). Since it was nigh impossible to actually see the movie in the theaters, DVD’s the only way most people can see it. And while I’m still talking about movies, go rent 3-Iron (I at long last did), the best movie I’ve seen in a a good while.

Ok, moving on from movies and switching from Korea to Japan, read this news piece of a motorcylist (via tokyomango) who rode for 2 kilometers before he noticed that he’d lost his leg to a divider. Yeah, that’s right, his leg hit a divider and got sheared off just below the knee and kept going for a mile. If it isn’t enough that he didn’t notice his own leg missing the 9 other motorcyclists he was with didn’t seem to notice what must have been a lot of blood either. After finally noticing he went to the hospital while one of his buddies went back and retrieved the leg. Ok, my little write up was probably longer than that original and more exciting, too. I should work for the news.

Lastly check out this ebay auction for a 19th century designed monocycle (via ectoplasmosis). It’s pretty great although it does clock in at $13k. I hesitated to put this in, because it does sort of smack of steampunk, but since it’s not powered, I let it slide. Anyone else completely bored of steampunk? You know, after about the first five minutes of being the new gal on the internet block? Yeah. Me, too. But this thing is just one early step on the way to Venus Wars and those bad ass monobikes.
