Death lightens up, trades scythe for rose
So there’s a small bunch of people that worship Santa Muerte, the Grim Reaper. You know the guy all skeletal, black cloak, big scythe… that guy. The Catholics don’t necessarily approve of this, but people are going to do what they’re going to do. The Brisbane Times is now reporting that ol’ Saint Death has gotten a little bit of a much needed PR makeover!
That’s right! Even Death isn’t beyond a little good marketing - gone is all that doom and gloom, now he’s a woman, with a flowing gold robe holding a rose in her outspread hands. Very welcoming, although I admit that I’m not necessarily looking to be welcomed by Death.
Here’s the quote:
“Everyone still loves the skeleton, but now there will be no reason to criticise” the Death Saint, said Ceron, who was among the hordes filing past the new statue.
I’m sure a year from now all the old school worshippers will be dissin on the new ones, totally wusses, when they started worshipping death had a scythe and cold skeletal fingers, etc.. etc.. A tale as old as time.

No less dis concerning than the outright “belief” of anything else in my book. All hail the Flying Spaghetti Monster!
