Breakfast Links: Soviet Posters, Odd Animals & Transformers Quiz

For you lovers of those old soviet propaganda posters, I’ve got the site for you. A Soviet Poster A Day proposes to post a poster every single day with a translation and a little (or a lot) of commentary. It’s pretty darn great. This beauty to the right has the phrase “all world records must be ours.” It’s only been running since mid-july, but that’s already a lot of posters! I particularly like “the day of the cosmonautics,” so happy and cheerful.

Speaking of the past, we here in the past posted that thing about those wierd fish? Now we’ve got the follow up with a list of 25 weird animals of any sort (although the fish still take the cake as the coolest). A bunch of them in the list aren’t really that wierd, and they’ve got some overlap with the fish one… but it’s worth a look to check out some really odd fellows. Like the star-nosed mole - I don’t even know what’s going on with that picture, looks like slow mo shot of someone getting shot twice. The Aye-aye is not something you ever want to come across in a dark alley, I’m pretty sure it will eat your soul. That’s what I heard at least.

And lastly, you know I like a good quiz, but my jury is still out on this one. I came across the Transformers Quiz on the smugblog and eagerly took it. I want to know what kind of transformer I am. What I got was that I am 68% Optimus Prime. Which coincidentally is also what Don is from smugblog. And the way the quiz goes it may be that you are either Optimus or Megatron, which I think is a little lame. So take it and let’s see what side of the divide you end up on.

BONUS LINK! This is the greatest thing I’ve seen all day… someone made a wordpress theme that looks like Mac System 6 (via TUAW). Seriously, I know there’s some o’ you out there who remember this!
