You know it’s kind of funny how MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Games) are beginning to suffer problems that you’d only think happened in the real world. Most recently and most interestingly Scott sent me the 411 on how there was an infectious disease epidemic broke out on World of Warcraft! Unintended, kind of just like in a movie, they were testing this disease in a quarantined area and it just got out into the public, killing off avatars and sending people into a panic. Real life epidemiologists are interested to study it because they can’t do any kind of testing in real life. Other problems? Yeah, they had a bank run the other day, people panicking and lining up at the bank to get their money back - which of course, the bank couldn’t give back since there’s no bank regulation there (why would there be?). And in more mundane fashion, there’s vandalism, sometimes just graffiti style and sometimes they nuke your island.

Cardboard Robot Rumble 2007A half step away from MMOG’s is this battle royale that took place recently in San Francisco. It was the Cardboard Robot Rumble of 2007. That’s right, men and women donned their cardboard alter ego’s and went to town on each other - it was more organized than you’d think - there were two armies (Valencia and Mission) and they battled. (you gotta love that one on the left that’s super thin without arms!) It kind of reminds me of the Flight of the Conchords’ Robot song. Hear me?

And another half step away from that? This video of the interview the All Things Digital guys had with George Lucas. You know I don’t bear any love for Lucas. Anyhow, it’s a long interview and I kind of spaced out not too far in, but I liked how they played the old cantina song to welcome him in, not that new cantina song they tried to make into some hit song.
