Breakfast Links: Speed Racer, American Gladiators & AllofMP3
Don’t you hate mondays? Don’t you love art?
If you go way back to the olden days you’ll remember a wee cartoon from japan called Speed Racer, mentioned here before. Well, there’s a little more news out on the movie being directed by the Wachowski brothers (via /.). Apparently they’ve got some new super ultra fancy camera that they are shooting with that will keep everything in the frame in focus, you know the way cartoons look. That’s pretty cool, they’re also looking to land the movie a G rating, which my knee jerk reaction to was “Lame” but then I realized that a G rating would also be in keeping with the original and I now approve, I’m sure they just breathed a collective and brotherly sigh of relief upon reading that.
It that’s too old school for you, fast forward a decade or so and be delighted to discover that a newly revived American Gladiators will soon be gracing out tv screens again. We can only hope that it will contain gladiators who’s nicknames can compete with Turbo, Nitro, Laser and Diamond. To make it a little more traditionally reality showish the show will now give the competitors some training time where they’ll be filmed and I’m sure much drama will ensue. Shrug, I can’t wait till they get pegged by tennis balls again - you know that one was your favourite!
Fast forward to almost just currrent and you’ll be pleased to know that another service is being revived, that’s right… All of MP3 is back! TechCrunch reports that a Russian Court decided that AllofMP3 was legal and it’s now time for them to get back to business. In no way is this surprising to me. But I’m glad to see the service back, it wasn’t the most comprehensive service but it did have some goodies and they’re cool letting you pick the quality of song you want (DRM free of course!) was very cool.
