Today we talk about science. First we have this bit from USA Today about the increasing goodness of solar power. Apparently we’re just at the point where big strides are happening and soon solar will be a viable energy source, I am totally into it. This will reduce the strain on the energy grid by making homes and offices generate a lot of their own power. There’s a lot of startups in this field which translates to a lot of money pouring in to make it viable, with oil prices what they are, hopefully they’ll get efficiency up before the oil price drops. There’s even an ETF, PBW, that invests in these - most of the names in that article are in their holdings (and I own a little bit of it).

Then there’s GPS - I’ve long wanted an easy GPS tracking device that communed with the satellites cheaply and portably so I could map where I’ve been while I’m on vacation. Know? Well, now there’s TrackStick II which speaks not only to the satellites but also to Google Earth! It’s designed for exactly what I am talking about, runs for a long time on a couple AAA’s and seems to just work! Now the only thing I need is a good portable camera that’ll combine with something like this so that pictures can be geotagged automatically in the camera. Oh nelly! Come on scientists!

Jessica Alba, scientifically proven to be hotLastly, I think we’ve all known this but it has now been scientifically proven that Jessica Alba is hot. That’s right, some Cambridge scientists took on the onerous task of proving it and have discovered the the perfect WHR (waist hip ratio) is .7 (for a woman, .9 for a man, but no studies have shown which man is the hottest, I am guessing, though, that it’s probably me). Apparently Jessica “beat off competition from Kate Moss, Angelina Jolie and even Marilyn Monroe.” which I think is going to far. Angelina’s hotness can not also be questioned. Come on scientists, get back to work!
