Apple, The Beat Goes OnWell, today is the day. Apple will reveal unto us its latest crop of iPods. And the internet goes wild! There’s no shortage of places to go for updates, check out Engadget or Gizmodo for some liveblogging of the event. There’s all kinds of rumors as to what’s going to be announced, various nanos with touch screens, osx, radio - I think one of the most interesting is the one that just started buzzing around - this notion of some kind of wireless connectivity called the Circle. That would certainly address many people’s issues with the iPod!

There’s lots of other news. Most annoyingly was this post of Gizmodo’s where Brian is like “God, I am so cool and bored. Apple, why do you ruin my life by letting me and me alone see all this new iPod stuff before it comes out? I mean, you let all those other crappy people make do with their wild and crazy speculation, but why have you chosen to show only me the real iPods? What is it about me that makes me so great?” Ok, sorry, I got carried away there, but damn that was an annoying post.

What else is there? Oh, there’s that iSuppli piece on how the iPhone was the leading smart phone in July. I don’t know how accurate iSuppli’s models are, but if it’s true that’s pretty amazing. Granted it’s early on in the iPhone’s life and it got a bit of a hype boost, so we’ll see how it goes long term, but it is certainly a good start. I can’t also help but believe that sometime in October or November there’s going to be an iPhone announcement - maybe a big software update that fixes the complaints many have had, or maybe announcing new apps or something at least moderately big to give it an extra boost going into the holiday season. And there was the AppleInsider piece on how Apple stores sold 7x as many iPhones as AT&T and no wonder. Have you tried checking out an iPhone at an AT&T store? Yeah, I did, so I’m not surprised.

Seems like Apple’s having a pretty good 2007 and the beat goes on.
