Breakfast Links: NBC Pilot Season, Jaeger LeCoultre & Saving The Playpen
Well NBC’s pilot season is upon us. There’s a whole bunch coming out, but there’s only two I’m interested in - I’m mildly interested in Chuck, but I’m quite psyched for Bionic Woman. NBC’s got the pilot for free on Amazon Unbox and if you’re the sort who likes to read reviews SFSignal has one up already. I haven’t seen it yet, Amazon gives no love to Apple. Sad. You guys going to be watching? Come on! The Bionic Woman remake by David Eick??
If that’s not your cup of tea, perhaps a remake of Knight Rider would - then they’d need this Jaegre LeCoultre watch that can lock/unlock and start a paired Aston Martin. Seriously - that’s pretty awesome, don’t deny - if you could also talk into the watch and have the car talk back, you could be your own Michael Knight. You know you want to. If I had a spare $400,000 I’d pick one up, curse the lottery for not picking my numbers.
As long as I can remember coming to NYC I can remember the Playpen Theater, which isn’t surprising since it’s been around since 1916. As long as I’ve known it, it’s also been a theater for porn, so I was not shocked to hear that a developer wants to tear it down but was surprised that the “Committee to Save the Playpen Theater” has come into being to try and, well… save the theater! They want to either have the facade and interior incorporated into the high-rise or else move it completely to a new site and have it turned into something else. If they decide to incorporate it into the high-rise, will the preview booths be kept? Because, that’d probably add a lot to the common charges.
