Ok, so scifi signal just pointed out this interview with George Lucas about the upcoming animated Clone Wars. I mentioned Clone Wars a bit ago but then promptly forgot about it, well there’s now more dirt on it and I will officially be unexcited by it. I mean, it’s not being directed by Genndy, the writers have backgrounds working on Dragon Boosters and direct to video Disney stuff and Lucas keeps talking about Jimmy Neutron in the interview. How much less interesting could it possibly get? Check out this quote:

Unfortunately, it doesn’t fall into the realm of what animation [typically] is, which is either adult, kind of off-color humor or kiddie stuff. This is, like Star Wars, sort of in between those two things. It’s a lot of battle stuff, and it’s obviously the Clone Wars, so it’s a war picture. So it’s kind of a PG-13 animated TV series, which is something that has never been done before and obviously doesn’t fit in any of the conventional slots that these things fall into.

It’s possible that he hasn’t heard of this small island country, Japan, which puts out a couple animated series every now and again which do exactly that. The mistake is forgivable, though, almost no one knows about that stuff.

I read this interview where they said it was great that Lucas was getting more involved with the animated series. Great? Let’s see, Episodes I, II, III? Crap. Special Editions of the original trilogy? Significantly worse. Empire Strikes Back (arguably) the best of the lot was the one where Lucas had the least involvement, then he came back onto the scene with Jedi and gave us all the Ewoks. Um. Tell me again how it’s good to have his involvement?

I should have made this a whole post, but I was so angry after reading it, I felt that a great followup would be this video on the Guiness Records - Worlds’ Worst Mouse Plague video. Seriously, it is nasty. Nasty. It makes me not want to live on a farm in Australia, which actually wasn’t that hard since I didn’t really want to before the video - but even if I had really, really wanted to - now I wouldn’t. Nasty. It’s extra gross when the narrator says the mice would eat the legs off the animals. Nasty.

But to wash out both bad stories, here’s a happy video of some guys who built a real life Donkey Kong set, complete with Kong, blonde and barrels. The video’s the first poor Mario who tries to make it to the top. Apparently it’s harder to jump those barrels than it looks.
