Felix picked a good week to go away, blog-wise. Really, not much has happened that is worth blogging about. Everybody talked about the vaguely positive review of the Palm Centro by David Pogue, which I thought damned it with faint praise. A new hack has come out that seems to unlock the 1.1.1 release of the iPhone firmware, but really, at this point if you’re still unlocking your iPhone you deserve what’s coming to you.

But what Felix really missed are these two Star Wars-related videos. Both of them are awesome in their own way.

First up (via Neatorama, which is like BoingBoing but not bossy or conceited), somebody took footage from the 1954 movie The Dam Busters and edited it so that it would sync with the audio from the Death Star battle scenes from Star Wars. The result is unpredictably thrilling.

To quote a friend: “I’m not sure which I liked better: the realistic footage of the bomb skipping across the river’s surface toward the dam, or the very funny shot where the flight controllers say, ‘his computer’s off… what’s wrong;’ and when the pilot says ‘nothing — I’m alright’ the commanders shrug, one of them actually starts sipping tea. Oh, how I wish that had happened in Star Wars.”

Next up (via my sister-in-law), a beauty pageant contestant uses meager trumpeting skills and two cans of Aqua Net to dazzle audiences with her memorably bad rendition of the Star Wars theme.

Sadly, I remember when that haircut was not a joke.

Update: I just noticed that Ronin also didn’t find anything cool to post about, so he posted a funny video instead. Felix is gonna fire us both.
