[...] Google’s post on their iPhone app which is kinda like Google Desktop for your iPhone. (via) Or maybe it isn’t, I don’t know, I don’t use Google desktop. But it lets you search through your contacts and the web, which is going to be useful for those of you with large contact lists. It does the awesome suggestion box remembering your past searches and possible autocompletions, hopefully minimizing necessary typing. Also of interest to some of you is that Nicholas Jitkoff was one of the engineers, he did another mac app you might know, Quicksilver. [...]

OS X is pretty good, maybe great, QS is what makes OS X great maybe perfect. It is the deepest software I've ever used.

The good file search compliment of QS is Pathfinder's Spotlight search features. I like Pathfinder a lot... at least after I set it up so that all the bells and whistles are turned off. I generally run without Finder or Pathfinder even running, just Quicksilver and the Dock.

QS is actually usually faster than launchbar. Also be sure to check out QS's trigger functionality. You can map anything you can do with QS (which is almost anything that you can do) to a key combination.

I tried to get into Quicksilver, it seemed right up my alley. But nothing happened.. I installed it and played around with it and then stopped. I should probably give it another shot, since lots of smarter people than me seem to think it's the boooomb.

Quicksilver's pretty good but for some reason I just couldn't get used to it after being a Launchbar user prior. I find Launchbar works a lot quicker and takes up a bit less resources than Quicksilver but then again, QS is free. Kinda tough to beat that.
