Breakfast Links: School, School & Dumb
Still trying to catch up, so some more quick links…
Remember trying to get into college? That wasn’t that fun and your high school councilor was, most likely, less than useless to your efforts. Fortunately, for the low cost of $40,000 you can hire a real consultant to tell you how to get in! She won’t get you into any college you want, she’ll tell you where you can get in and how to do it… huh. I guess it’s cheaper than donating a new library or something…
I wonder how much she could help kids at some NYC public schools. We seem to have some issues with the helping of our students. Remember when there was that memo that no schools should call 911? And then the girl had that stroke and had to wait 90 minutes before they called? Well, they’ve learned their lesson and modified the memo into a 4 step escalation process (via gothamist). Wait, what?? It’s this easy… just call 911 if you need to call 911. And kids can’t use cell phones in school, so it’s not even like your friend could do it. Crazy.
If you’re me, which you may well not be, but let’s just say you were… both those pieces get you angry. And when you (you being me) get angry, you blow fire from your nose and rip cars and planes in half! Like Robosuarus (check the vid)! And now, if you happen not to be me but want to have something that breathes fire and rends cars, you’re in luck, turns out Robosaurus is for sale! You know you want it. Now go get it.

As many have told us who work in the public school system of New York, it’s literally all about clout and “respect”. No doubt this is the reason why the solution to the original stupid problem is, if not equally as stupid, at least partially as stupid, and frankly, dangerous. If they ran the school system less like a god damn corporation and more like, well like a school then people wouldn’t be constantly making decisions based on who it will please instead of whats best for the kids. (or anyone working there for that matter) I will solve this problem right now….. no ACTIVE cell phones in class, period, thats it. You need to call 911 at least everyone will have a working cell phone that just needs to be powered up. Severe consequences for those who disobey and its a done deal. All you need is one phone, unless you have AT&T of course then maybe you need 3 or 4. And I bought robosaurus and your all dead.
