Breakfast Links: Writers’ Strike, King Tut & Flickr

Why, monday? Have art.
So the much feared WGA strike began mere hours ago. It’s kind of sucky but those writers do have to get theirs - they got screwed on their DVD residuals and don’t want to repeat the mistake for electronic rights. The good news? Heroes has to make episode 7 their season finale (via).
So now, instead of watching crappy television you’ll have lots of time to do something else. Perhaps you’ll go see King Tut to check out his actual face! That’s right for the first time ever King Tut’s mask is removed and the public can see his face - it’s a little weird to think that until now only 50 living people have seen it. I suspect that people once more will be standing in line to see the boy king, King Tut.
I suspect in not so long Flickr will be flooded with shots of the king and then? Well, the big brains at the University of Washington will be able to create a 3D model of King Tut. Looks like they’ve got some tech similar to Microsoft’s Photosynth - they grab lots and lots of pictures of a particular subject and use it to create a 3D model of that subject their goal is to be able to recreate entire cities. If that’s not ambitious, I don’t know what is!
Oh, also, I’m not sure if I mentioned this, but Joss Whedon’s making a show again? Dollhouse?
