Breakfast Links: NJ R.O.U.S’s, Neil Gaiman & the A-Team

Remembered Monday, almost forgot the Art.

Ok! The Garden State is getting it’s dose of giant rats! These 20 pounders have been making their way north for decades and have at last reached their promised land. As the billboard goes, NJ and rats, perfect together! Of coruse they aren’t really rats, these nutria, they look like a cross between a beaver and… a rat. Anyhow, rodents of unusual size? I don’t think they exist.

If you’re a fanboy, A) you’ll have seen that last video coming. B) you’ll find this next story non-cheesy. It’s a tale of a fanboy who enlisted the help of Neil Gaiman and the staff of an entire convention to help him very publicly propose to his lady friend. The punchline is that he gets Neil to autograph his Absolute Sandman (autographing happens to be on stage) where Neil writes “Will you marry Jason?” in large silvery letters… the girl friend, quite star struck needed some help sealing the deal…

Maui (squealing, closing the book): Thanks!!!

Neil: Aren’t you going to read what I wrote? You have to read it..

Maui (opening the book, shrugging, then closing it again): Thanks!!!

Me: You have to read the dedication…

And she bent over to give Neil a kiss, STILL not noticing what was going on.

Neil: You really have to read this…

When she did (FINALLY!)…

She says yes, the crowd goes wild, etc.. etc.. Good story. :)

Perhaps, after they will take… the A-Team limo to their wedding! That’s right, some enterprising folks have decked out a van to look quite like the old A-Team van - technically you should be able to drive the van right through the wall of the church on your way to being married. Sadly, it does not come with B.A. Baracus - which is a real, real shame.
