Amazon buys Rowling’s Tales of Beedle the Bard!
Wow, Amazon has snagged J.K.Rowling’s hand penned book Tales of Beedle the Bard. I, strangely, haven’t really read the Potter books (except the first one which I found… eh…). I admit that I was skeptical of this whole hand written business but it turns out that it’s pretty freakin’ cool - although it must be sad for Harry Potter fans worldwide to not get the chance to read the 5 stories in the book. I think it’d have been super cool if Ms. Rowling also released the text of the books for free on the internets. I mean, this one went for £1,950,000! That’s like a quajillion dollars in American. The proceeds all go to J.K.’s own charity - The Children’s Voice campaign. I guess there are 6 more of these, but they were given away.
In the feature they note that they’ll be reviewing all 5 tales over time - the first one “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot” is already up on that page. There’s spoilers in the reviews (and warnings of said spoilers) so I guess fans will at least get a glimpse of what happens in them - is that better or worse than simply not knowing?
Anyhiz, that book is cool. There’s a bunch more pictures on amazon and you can see how the white glove service you get at Sotheby’s should you ever want to auction off any of your goods. Y’know if you get bored of Craigslist and Ebay.
