Breakfast Links: Morse Code, Nativity & Lakota’s Secede
You know I find myself wishing I could both translate stuff into morse code and listen to that translation all the time (ok not really). Fortunately for the world someone has gone and busted out a java applet (an applet!!) that does just that giving you both a visual and audio representation! (via) Even better than that (as if it could get better!) it allows you to control the pitch and speed of the audio playback! What they needed to do was A) make it take in a url and work like a translator B) make a little flash widget that played back whatever it is you wanted to translate that you could embed on your page. You know what I’m saying? I want to embed some god freakin’ damn morse code on my site.
Following up on god damned… some Archbishop, ok not just any archbishop, but the Archbishop of Canterbury - which is kind of like THE archbishop if you were to ask me. Go ahead ask me… anyways, he’s gone on record as saying that that whole nativity thing, y’know el dios nino, 3 wise men, hay, some goats or whatever - not real. Never happened. Whaa? Can you do that if you’re an archbishop? Next thing you know they’ll be saying that we actually did evolve from apes!
Lastly we have news that the Lakota Indians have finally up and decided to secede from the U.S. of A. Which, pretty much, kicks ass! That is to say they are withdrawing from the treaties they signed since those treaties have been “repeatedly violated in order to steal our culture, our land and our ability to maintain our way of life.” They’re making the diplomatic rounds now and issuing driver’s licenses and passports. They’re claiming parts of Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. My only question… when do we nuke them? Bush ain’t afraid to press that god freakin’ damn button.

One night at a bar the pope told me (very drunk) that he was only closer to god than the ordinary man because his faith filled the spot in his brain that is supposed to hold reason. It just so happens that his brain is full of a lot more holes than normal people. (you could say it’s holey) They say faith is in the heart, but actually it’s in the brain and just feels like the heart because you believe it so fervently that it hurts. This does not make you a better person, quite the opposite in fact. Faith means taking something as fact with no proof (and even every shred of scientific evidence against it) The brain evolved to think, therefor faith goes against everything out brains took 120 million years to develop. Nice job. Can’t be easy to ignore 120 million years of evolution. In any case, the arch bishops statement is just a glimpse into what the leaders of most religions already know, it’s bullshit. Unfortunately it’s not just benign bullshit or I wouldn’t have a problem with it. It’s cost more lives and suffering than anything else ever. Yea, god would be real proud of you. HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
