Nabisco Biscuit and Fish Skybridges

Well, today seems to be the day of suspended, ethereal stuff on the web. Who am I to argue with cyberspace? No one, that’s who.

First is the sad news that several skybridges are getting torn down in NYC. (via) A few new ones are going up at some of the swank new developments, but really, I love those old skybridges. Fortunately, my favourite, the one right in front of Penn Station is not at risk. And in the middle of this guys flickr stream of skybridges (awesome!), he not only has pictures of that skybridge but he’s talked to the owners about what they use it for and just so you know, it’s the National Biscuit Co. skybridge. Totally great.

Speaking of skybridges - check out this crazy, crazy contraption these dudes built for their fish. It is completely awesome, the shot of these fish swimming straight up and then across is fancy-tastic! And it’s nerdtastic too as they talk about pumps and vacuums to keep all that water up in there. I’m not sure how they clean that long tube, though…

And what else do you find in the sky, besides bridges? Clouds! None other than my lovely wife, maria basketball, sent me this portable cloud meeting room thingy, yesterday. Precognitive! Some kind of portable room that you inflate, sort of, with a fan and it provides a nice separate area for meeting, chilling, or whatever. And it’s cloud shaped! Pretty sweet for some instant privacy, if you ask me…

Of that doesn’t float your boat, perhaps this floating chair will. Using magnets this chair hovers above it’s base - sadly, for some reason they’ve decided to use lucite or whatever instead of, you know, something that might be comfortable. They should at least have put some kind of inflatable cushioning on top to give you that cloudy feeling!

And lastly, I came across this list of the top 12 crazy floating buildings. Do I need to say anything more? No. No, I don’t.
