So, yesterday was my birthday. Not only did Maria get me a kickass present, make me a kickass breakfast she also threw me a kickass surprise party (thanks, everyone, for coming!!). Such was the fun of this party it had global ramifications. That’s right, as a result, the world’s stock markets all fell about 5% yesterday. Five percent. And the US is set to open over 600 points down today. Plus there was a small fire at my party. Damn, that’s good.

Completely unrelated, apparently some Dutch company is making a new phone that contains a wraparound e-ink screen that unfolds to the size of 2 business cards or something. These smurf like measurements are interesting… but I wonder how useful this will be. You’d think that a phone and e-ink reader would make for some real wireless potential, right? Y’know how the Kindle and all has the Whispernet which makes it all revolutionary? Check it:

Users will be able to set up their email accounts, news sources, podcasts, audio books and blog feeds at home on their computer, and the data is then pushed to the device whenever it is updated.

McGoldrick said the company opted to use this approach — which rules out quickly browsing the Web on the go — because it was simpler in a mobile environment.

“I see these devices with 50 buttons on them. We have eight,” he said, adding that the company plans to add a keypad to future models.

Apparently he hasn’t heard of the iPhone. Or the Kindle…

Lastly, here is a page of strangely compelling little stories. A lot of them. I’m not really sure why, but they’re a little addictive - like chips, once you start… And they’re in ALL CAPS which only adds to their mystique. (via)
