Sad. Heath Ledger died yesterday, I’m sure you know already. Gothamist has a decent writeup of the facts. Y’know, the first thing I did when Scott im’d me the news was wonder what it meant for Dark Knight. Is that wrong? Does that make me a bad person? Of course Scott pointed out that deceased stars can be good news for a movie. I’m pretty sure that makes him a bad person… All badness aside, I liked Heath, I think he was a good actor. I liked him ever since I saw A Knight’s Tale which, ridiculous Robbie Williams/Queen soundtrack aside, was a thoroughly entertaining movie. Don’t tell me you didn’t shed a tear when what’s his face knighted Heath after removing him from the stockade. Please. Don’t front.

In much more uplifting news, WiMax has actually rolled out to real people! The report says that TDS Telecom rolled it out in Madison, Wisconsin. Damn those lucky 65,000 Madisonians! Confusingly, TDS is not Sprint of Clearwire - what’s the deal with that? The pricing and the bandwidth look great - I mean, their asymmetric offerings have upload at 50% of download - compare and contrast with RoadRunner who are stingy bastards with their upload. Even with premium service it’s only 1Mbps upstream. Sigh. Please, someone roll this out in NYC and make it not suck. I will shower you with my money.

So, we all know that Japan is on a whale hunting spree for “traditional scientific research.” Well, someone has gone and made the game - Harpooned, Japanese cetacean research simulator. This is totally awesome - check out the video of the game. It’s completely great - when you get the “Hyper Scientific” you know you’re rocking. One of the best part comes at the end when you find out how much research you did. “Our Research has produced 290 cans of pet food and 440 whale burgers!” Man, it’s great. “Protestors are trying to protect the whales. Don’t Harm them, it will cost us money!”
