Now this is what I’m talking about. We are planning on doing some moon research and when I say we I mean NASA and when I say research what I mean to say is, smash a spaceship as hard as possible into the moon and watch the ensuing havoc! Man, I tell you, scientists get to do all the good stuff! Some kind of blah blah blah about watching plumes and looking for the hydrogens and history of Earth and what not. But really, I stopped comprehending after “smash spacecraft into the moon”, savvy?

Science rules. Also? Superhero movies rule. Embarassingly, I just learned of the movie The Fall. Check out the trailer and a bit of a review of it at io9. It looks bits League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, bits Princess Bride and bits pretty awesome. Including Charles Darwin! Nice! Hopefully better than League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was. To see how that movie did at the box office, check out this beautiful app the the NYTimes built to help you visualize move box office takes over time. (via on the ground looking up) I hope that whenever The Fall hits our lovely shores it is both better than League and does better as well.

And another movie trailer for you, this time a preview trailer for Coraline. Directed by Henry Selick (who did The Nightmare Before Christmas) based on the book by Neil Gaiman. It seems to me that that is a really great pair - I quite enjoyed the book, creepy in the best of ways and from the looks of the trailer the movie easily retains the creep factor. And in 3D? Forget it… gotta see it.
