Somehow I totally missed this. Ok, not really somehow, I missed it by not being in Union Square the other day, but that’s pretty nearby me - anyhewz, Cash Tomato thought it’d be a great promotion to give out a bunch of tomatoes with $29 attached to each one in the middle of Union Sq. Predictably as soon as people realized someone was giving out money, they surged and the dude panicked and dropped the cash in the trash and ran. Hilarity Rioting ensues. Sadly, one person had to be sent to the hospital. Note to self, when giving out a boatload of cash money in a crowded place in NYC maybe have more than 1 little guy with said cash money. Check out the video.

Another video you may want to check out is Appleseed: Ex Machina, coming March 11th! This is a sequel to the last movie (a remake of an earlier one - sf signal has that scoop). I loved the manga but remember being mildly disappointed with the movie - what caught my eye about this one is that John Woo is a producer. Not that he’s done anything good or even not bad in recent days, but still, it’s interesting. The trailer looks decent - the graphics certainly look pretty badass, maybe I’ll check it out. Anyone see this already?

And in some NYC news, the MTA gave it’s state of the MTA address. Turns out despite all experience to the contrary, the MTA thinks it’s in pretty good shape! Ah well, basically he held out the hat and said they still needed money from everyone (federal, state, municipal and commuters). But don’t worry because they’re going to have quarterly webinars! A well, at least they’re still on target with their estimated 2008 revenue so with that $30 million they’re still on track (see how I did that? That’s blogging wit honed to razor perfection right there.) with their service enhancements. Maybe they’ll buy some new speakers for their trains so you can hear the dude tell you when he’s about to skip your stop.
