No Mac for me!
Well, the saga of my sad mac continues. Brought that sucker into the 5th ave Apple Store (the only one of the 3 in NYC that had available time in the afternoon). I forget how deceptively heavy the iMacs are and how sharp those edges are - couple that with some light rain and the screen covered by two small garbage bags and it was a dicey proposition getting there but it made it safe and sound.
The Genius, Jason, was very great, as they usually are in my experience but said that he had never seen anything like what my Mac was doing. So there was no way to know if they had the parts necessary to fix it, it might be gone from 5-7 days! Oh NOES! I did get the ProCare subscription which helps put me at the front of the queue and I’ve got my fingers crossed that they’ve everything in stock that they need. We’ll see. Sigh. Cross your fingers and send me some positive vibes.
In miscellaneous good news, I just was perusing my Google Reader recommendations (it does that now, dontchaknow?) and what did I find at the top of the list? Why this very blog! That’s pretty cool. I’m glad that Reader figured out that if I read everything I read that I probably also would want to read my blog. :) I mean that without sarcasm, too!

Oooooohm…..Ooooooohm….sending peace and light to Felix’s iMac….Oooooohm.May you heal in less than the 5-7 business days of Apple ProCare….Ooooooohm.
Hey buddy - here’s hoping you get your princess back quickly. I know if I was without “Mac-chelle”, as my wife calls her, that I would be completely downtroden.

Thanks, Dom! It’s tough - I guess that’s one problem with the iMac - you lose a big screen when you lose the computer. Replacing a 24″ screen with a 13″… that’s tough, I’ll tell you.

What!? A 13″?
Must be a MacBook? Ouch, that is a downgrade.
Although, isn’t the Air a 13″? I got to
fondletouch one for the first time at a Best Buy in Des Moines, Iowa, and it seemed a decent size.Of course, that wasn’t comparing to a 24″…

Yeah, it’s a macbook - 13″ and only 512MB ram. Sigh. It’s just tough - fortunately it can power my other 23″ cinema display which is the only thing keeping my sanity - but it doesn’t have leopard (no spaces) and it doesn’t recognize my mouse as being a logitech (no remapping my mouse buttons) and thus my whole world kinda sucks right now.
I don’t generally hate it, it is a decent if heavy machine to travel with - an Air would be oh so much nicer. 13″ screens are plenty good for that kinda thing - just not heavy duty work mode. At least for me. :)
