Cover Story: Mr. Grieves - TV on the Radio v. The Pixies
While Doolittle didn’t make the list of 1000 albums you should listen to before you kick the bucket, it’d definitely be on my list. Fortunately for me, I’ve listened to it already. Pretty much every song on the album is great. I mean, I don’t think there’s even one song on the album that isn’t great.
Anyhew, Mr. Grieves, while not my favourite song on the album is still quite awesome. And I first checked out TV on the Radio when they opened for someone. I can’t remember who - but they were pretty good - so I checked them out further. Imagine my surprise when I found a cover of Mr. Grieves that is no slouch! It doesn’t beat the original, but it’s nice and refreshing (and a capella without being cheezy no less). Give it a listen, it’s got a slow start but gets really good pretty quickly:
