Breakfast Links: Sky Phones, ’80s toons & Photoshop online
Man, the UK has decided to allow mobile phones on airplanes. Now riding next to the sweaty guy next to you will be enhanced by his screaming into the phone about how badly his last prostate exam went. With all the white noise the plane generates? You know how you can barely hear the movie without cranking up the volume? Yeah, that’s going to have people screaming into their phones. I’m so excited. Phone talking on the plane is the new smoking, I hope they’ll change those ubiquitous non-smoking signs into a non-phoning sign - just give me a section of blessed mobile phonoe free seating…
It’ll make you long for those halcyon days of the 80’s when restaurants had smoking sections. Also, when they had awesome cartoons. Speaking of which, topless robots has created their list of the 10 most insane moments of ’80s cartoons. I remember about half of them and it’s a pretty good list, although I think that child-warping may be a bit excessive… But man, I didn’t even remember the Spiral Zone till now, with those Venus Wars style monobikes? That was awesome. Oh and that picture of naked Cheetara… rroooowrrr…. (via)
I know your eyeing that awesome photo of her up there. I’ve talked about my love of Acorn, a light image editor before - now Adobe’s come out with Photoshop Express an online image editing service. It gives you 2GB free space and an online gallery so you can show your mad skills to the world. It’s a slick site it just doesn’t let you do very much - crop, rotate, saturate, hue, exposure, white balance… the basics. It’s very easy to use with sliders and nice previews - there’s a nice touch that above most of the sliders there’s a thumbnail to show you what it’ll look like at that stage. But I’m sticking with Acorn since it doesn’t seem to be able to composite pictures or let me draw on them - I needs my freedom! Still PS Express is free and online, which is kinda nice, too.
