New App: FriendFeed Room Directory
So my inability to discover any rooms on FriendFeed was frustrating me, so I spent a few hours and built the FriendFeed Room Directory. It’s super simple right now, I wasn’t sure exactly how many rooms there were so I decided to err on the side of simplicity - basically you can create categories and then add rooms to them. At this point you can’t nest categories (so no subcats) but if people start using this and there’s a need for further division I can pretty easily add that in.
Adding rooms is super easy, you just copy and paste the url of the room you want to add into a field and it adds it into the category you want (pulling the name and image along the way). Right now rooms can only be in one category, but that could change, although I’m loathe to do it.
I’ve added a bunch of categories and some rooms that I came across. Please add more! I have a few more ideas on things I want to build into it as well, so hopefully I’ll be iterating a little in the next few weeks. The whole thing is an App Engine app, you know, it was just another good excuse to play around with it. :) Check it out and let me know what you think!
